Firstly, get well soon Inky sensei! If I were live close by I would make you a tea with dry mint, lemon and sugar, it’s healing and very tasty. :( As your biggest fan, actually I came to ask you some random-ass questions. :D What do you think about ItaHana? Yes it’s Hanabi and Itachi. Of course with an adult Hanabi. :) As a Sasuhina shipper, I like the idea that Hanabi has a crush on her sister’s boyfriend’s big brother. :D You write GaaHana, I thought maybe you could like them too. Love ya. <3

You know i haven’t actually read a lot of ItaHana, but I am not opposed to it if they are older. I can see how that might play out and be a lot of fun. Actually, you know what maybe that tea of yours went through the magical interwebs, I’m feeling pretty good so here ya go!

One Shot: See Ya Around/ItaHana/NonMassacreAU

“Hanabi. Hanabi, no.”

It was a common theme in her life, hearing her name followed by the firm denial of what she wanted. After a time it turned into lessof a downer and more of a cause to smile because if someone was telling her no…

Well then that meant that a yes was a possibility and there was nothing Hanabi Hyuuga liked more than to go from doing what was okay to pushing what was possible.

“Why not?” She asked, looking over at her sister who was stiffly staring at her, face pale as a ghost and lips pressed firmly together.

They were an island in the ever moving chaos of the market square. People shouted and called to one another, vendors offered their wares in loud voices and the sounds of chickens clucking their worries made the melee overwhelming despite the beautiful spring day.

In celebration of spring their kimonos were a splash of blooms, bright and beautifully ornate among the dirty chaos of the street. They would have drawn eyes to them in the bloody muddy mess of used battle gear. In kimono people sometimes stopped to gape.

Including the young man across the street who had turned a beautiful shade of fuschia before turning resolutely away. His eyes declared his Uchiha lineage and that in and of itself made him a difficult and therefore enticing mark.

But what made it really interesting was that he had been looking at her sister.

“I beg you.”

“Oh please.” Hanabi laughed, the sound the tinkling of crystal bright and beautiful. “You should know better than to do that, Sister. Begging has not worked in years.”

“Ah!” Hinata gasped, diving into her palms to hide her face as Hanabi marched her way across the street to tap on the boy’s shoulder hard. “Excuse me.” She began.

He turned, dark eyes widening a fraction even as his jaw clenched in response to her interruption of the conversation he had been having in whispers with his companion.

Hanabi smiled, eyes flashing over his face to catch the slight stamped on panic that fluttered there. “I’m Hanabi Hyuuga-”

“A Hyuuga Princess.” It was not the young man who spoke, but his friend and it was then that the whole clever plan Hanabi had concocted to embarrass her sister, maybe even get her a date if she was lucky went out the window.

He was tall, taller than she anticipated when he stood, stretching his hand out in an easy comfortable hello. “I’m Itachi Uchiha. This is my little brother Sasuke.”

Hanabi clicked her mouth shut with a snap of her teeth, scrambling to find words in her head and finding nothing. Eyes dark as the sky void of stars, mouth quirking up in a small almost invisible smirk that told more of his amusement than a guffaw he was a work of art.

Undeniable to the point that her face heated to a flashing pink and pinching herself hard on the thigh she sucked in a breath.

“Oh- oh!” Mechanically her hand stuck out to take his, aware of how clammy she had suddenly become and in horror she mustered. “Pleasure to see yo- meet you, I- er.. I was just…”

This is what it’s like… Hanabi realized.  This is what it’s like to be my sister.

“My brother was blindsided by your sister, I think.” Itachi continued, releasing her hand after a moment and a brief smile. “I was trying to talk him into going to introduce himself but it would seem out of all four of us, you have the most courage.”

Hanabi’s laugh was frantic, she choked it down at the last moment and swallowed hard. “I doubt that.”

“Itachi.” Sasuke snapped in reprimand. “I’m leaving.” He turned to go, had even taken a step into the crowd when Hinata’s voice called out softly.

“Hanabi? We… we ought to go on, it’s getting late.”

Itachi and Hanabi both watched as Sasuke’s back stiffened, his head turning minutely at the sound of Hinata’s voice. One sly wink of the elder Uchiha’s eye had Hanabi’s stomach flip flopping and then he was talking, erasing all thoughts of anything other than the fact he was amazing.

“Miss Hyuuga, let me introduce myself.”

“Ah… H-hello…” Hinata began, startled when he came forward to take her hand. In two steps he had danced her into their circle, of which Sasuke had still to turn towards.

“I was just meeting your lovely sister. Hanabi, yes?” He turned back to Hanabi then, all dark eyes and intensity so that she chirped out something that might have been a yes, perhaps in the language of squirrels.

“This is Sasuke, my younger brother.” And just like that he had taken Sasuke by the shoulder shoved him rather into HInata’s personal space and without a word grabbed Hanabi’s hand and dragged her away.

“That ought to do it.” He wrinkled his nose as he glanced back, catching Sasuke rubbing the back of his neck furiously as he apologized to HInata who was about as pink as her kimono.

“Uh huh.” Hanabi followed blindly, wide eyed and utterly stunned. “Yep. Couldn’t have done that better myself.”

“I doubt that.” Itachi laughed, a real full throated laugh that exposed the curve of his adam’s apple and made Hanabi swallow hard. “You were ready to shove him at your sister yourself, I saw the intent in your eye.”

Being read in any way annoyed Hanabi fiercely enough to draw her back to her body. “Nonesense.” She snapped, finally tearing her hand out his grip and stopping with her arms crossed in a decidedly less ladylike manner. “If he can’t get the guts to talk to her he isn’t worthy of my sister and-”

“Now, now.” Itachi began, hands up as though to placate her. A flash of something deadly flickered in Hanabi’s eye. Beautiful or not the patronizing tone was not appreciated.

“I never thought Uchihas were so anxious around the opposite sex. Here our father’s been pushing us to compete with you and yet you’re all a bunch of-”

“Ah, who says I’m anxious?” Itachi leaned forward, cupping her chin in his hand to study her face calmly. And it was true, there was zero anxiety on his face, although amusement there was plenty.

“By contrast, we’re always told to learn control, to be calm as the Hyuuga and yet look at you.” He smirked, “I can feel your blush on my fingers.”

It was the wrong thing to say.

Words evaporated in her head, and when words were gone then her fists would have to do. A snap of her palm to his chest and a shot of chakra sent him stumbling backwards, the surprise evident even as he caught himself before knocking over a fruit stand behind him.

Quick as a flash of light Hanabi was on him again, aiming to knock a fist into that pretty face to bring him down a notch when his own hands were there to catch it, twisting her around and pinning her arm behind her back. This would have usually been the end of an ordeal as most people realized how out of their depth they were facing Itachi Uchiha.

But he had never faced a Hyuuga before, and certainly not the younger of the daughters. The one’s whose name meant fireworks.

“Tch!” Hanabi grunted hard, her other arm slamming hard into his solar plexus, knocking the air out of his gut and cutting off what was going to be a laugh. It was too difficult to maneuver in a kimono but that did not mean she was completely useless.

Her twist in his arms had him pulling hard, straining to keep her from gaining room to use those deadly hands again on his chakra. Fast, like the slapping games of children in school they twisted through a series of convoluted knots with their hands, her palms always at the ready to wreck more damage where her vein primed eyes could see.

“You know.” He panted finally, forcing her hands up against her chest and in a very inelegant fashion pinned them there by hugging her tightly. “I don’t think I’ve been out of breath in a spar for… a long time. I’m rather impressed.“

Hanabi herself was rather breathless. It was the effort of course that was making her gasp, not the fact that Itachi Uchiha, gorgeous annoying thing that he was, had her in a firm unshakable embrace.

"I’m rather pissed."

"Ah, the fireworks.” He smiled then, bright enough to make the sun jealous. “Right."

With a little shove he stepped back, cocking his head at her as she adjusted her kimono with trembling hands and shot glares around at the few wary passersby who were stunned into watching.

"I have a feeling I’m going to be seeing you around.” He offered after a moment, taking another step back.

Hanabi flinched, zeroing in on him with the hawkish short of sharpness of a hunter on prey. “Oh? What makes you say that?”

Nodding behind her Itachi laughed, and she followed his gaze to find her mouth gaping. There was Hinata walking away with the younger Uchiha, talking.

Actually talking

Laughing even.

“Ugh.” Hanabi groaned. “I should have minded my own business!"

"Why?” Itachi dared, “It was bound to happen anyway. He’s been wanting to talk to her for ages. That’s how I knew you would come up to us if the situation presented itself."

Hanabi blinked rapidly at him then, made unsteady by the fact he knew something about her before she knew his name.

"Have you been watching me?”

This was not what he had anticipated in response, made clear by the fact that his face flushed scarlet and he blinked back.

"N-no. Not-”

Suddenly Hanabi was grinning again, smirking, even. “Oh, you’re right.” She turned, leaving him floundering. A thing decidedly difficult to do to an Uchiha, let alone this particular one. “I’ll be seeing you around for sure."
