What are your favorite types of Sasuhina stories?

Nonnie! I wrote and answer to this and instead of posting it, i saved it! Here’s my belated answer to this very thought provoking question!

First of all, I like SasuHina in particular because I really enjoy broken wounded characters. (that sounds terrible! ) In a story that kind of character cannot remain static. Where Naruto is delightful I find him so endearing that to change him would mean exploring a broken or flawed Naruto and in my mind at least the story would be centered around making him shine again. I just don’t have the stomach for that. So Sasuke, and Hinata too- to a less obvious extent always have somewhere to go. They are all primed for growth and change.

That being said I am also a huge dork for tropes so here’s where I tend to go when I do have the time and energy to read fanfiction:

In no particular order!

Highschool AU: I like highschool, in japan and in the west, I just love it. The time of life has such a perfect setting for daily interaction with people you would not generally be forced to speak to. It is a time of growth, a time of bad choices to learn new wisdom and I mean the trope fields are ripe for the picking in a highschool setting. There’s brooding delinquent saving the book nerd, the heartthrob who notices the bullied girl, the private tutoring, the getting into fights, the weird social pressures and peers everywhere watching everything, commenting, interfering, family still living with you to watch you go through it all. It’s just glorious- heck I may write another one of these one day. Example of one I liked that comes off the top of my head

is https://archiveofourown.org/works/11108775/chapters/26341368. This one is one part highschool AU two parts Soul Mates AU and i love it.

Modern AU: I think that this one is difficult… I like certain kinds of modern AU. Sometimes they fall into things like Coffee Shop or University or other known types of stories but honestly I like exploring the characters in a modern setting because it forces the writers to bend the characters usual behavior to the culture which is so so different from in universe. Also, often these are set with adult versions of Sasuke and Hinata which I really enjoy as well. Example of one I liked a lot Larkspur https://archiveofourown.org/works/10933875/chapters/24324420 by @newrageinc and also https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12128925/1/Eyes-Wide-Open by @lpitchcatl

In Universe One Shots: There are a lot of one shots that I have loved and cannot name all of them right now, but I don’t often read in universe long stories. Not because I don’t like them but because they are so numerous that sifting through them is hard for me. A couple One shots I can recommend though:Bone White https://archiveofourown.org/works/12280812 by @orangeflavoryawp
and CPR https://archiveofourown.org/works/10933875/chapters/24324420,
and https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12361792/1/The-Golden-Ratio by @giada-luna <—this one has a bunch of stuff to read 🙂

And last by not least, I have been surprised by writers before in this little corner of the fandom. They take concepts I have never considered and play with them in ways that make me squirm with joy! An example of this is a mermaid AU also by the wonderful Giada Luna called Between the Devil and the Deep https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12600857/1/Between-the-Devil-and-the-Deep
That one is ongoing and beautiful! Also!

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11706112/1/All-That-Glitters-Is-Taboo by @elreinodeloscielos has caught my interest and is in my current reading pile.

So… in the end I like all things SasuHina that involve in character development, great writing, an interesting premise, whether it involves tropes or not. Well written is the key!

Okay so that was a weird reply to this ask but what can I say? I’m a chatterbox when I’m typing. I’m sorry!

i hope this is kind of what you were wondering Nonnie… otherwise uh… ask me again! Let’s see what other nonsense I come up with!

Much Love,
Inky

Sasuhina Fic Rec:

I don’t often give fic recs. I have a really weird eclectic handful of favorites. They range from long convoluted ones to short one shots that really snag something precious in their one instalment.

I think because I write SasuHina so much I actually don’t read it as often as other things, but occasionally I bump into one that catches me in the first few lines such as :

Holy Crap.

Please go read this fic. It is a beautiful thing. Made delicately and intricately. It makes me think of snowflakes, or spun glass. Sasuke and Hinata are very much in character, but still it is not just the characters which make this story worth reading. There is a beauty to the author’s style which really does make you take a deep breath. Broad sweeping strokes and then minute details all together meshed to make this a really lovely satisfying sigh-worthy read.

This was supposed to be a drabble? I’m not sure what happened? I hope you like it @rosa-atra. This took a turn and wrote itself. >.<

It had happened again.

Hyuuga Hinata woke up slowly to the strong smell of bleach, pinesol, and other cleaning supplies. Her back ached from her awkward position on the floor, and even her limbs tingled in protest when she attempted to move.

Ah, it had happened again, indeed. How many times was it this week? Seven? Nine? She’d lost track after the fourth. Final exams before summer break tended to increase high schoolers’ rate of falling asleep.

The problem wasn’t that they dozed off; the problem was that they dreamed.

And when the REM stage began, she only had so much time before being dragged into it herself.

Sighing, more in resignation than exasperation, she tried to ease her cramping muscles. Her head and cheeks throbbed, but she ignored them as best as she could.

Wait, her cheeks?

Confused but not in the mood to seek answers, she concentrated instead in clearing her mind.

Being pulled into random teenager dreams was never the best experience. Especially when said teen dreamed such indecent and puzzling things.

She covered her eyes, rubbing away the lingering images and the weariness that came after the draining event.

If only she’d stayed with the home-school program her Mother had placed her in from the start. Private classes equaled private time. Which meant no classmates that slept at their convenience during free periods.

Sitting up, she blinked, dimly focusing on the supply closet she found herself in. Vaguely, she wondered at the time and at whatever soul had finally awaken from slumber at the opposite side of the wall.

“S-stupid dreams,” she muttered.

With trembling hands, she rose to her feet, sluggishly smoothing her uniform skirt over her numb thighs.

Kami, her head was swimming, her ears ringing, her throat parched.

It was taking longer than normal to regain her senses. That was, perhaps, what made her oblivious to the person standing on the threshold of the door that was no longer closed.

“Awake yet?”

Startled, she snapped to attention instantly, her dizziness causing her to sway.

Uchiha Sasuke knew she was about to fall before she registered it herself.

Clumsily, she grabbed on to the nearest shelf, managing to catch herself and a knocked container of wipes just in time.

“Great reflexes,” he noted dryly, but she could tell by the smirk on his face that he was laughing at her.

Flustered, tired, and feeling like throwing up, she dismissed his humor. Putting the wipes back in place, she greeted him. “Uchiha-san, h-hello.”

“Hyuuga,” he acknowledged.
